"Stamp king" set record in auction price

On the special stamp auction in the China Guardian 2006 Spring Auctions
held on June 5, a one-yuan red revenue stamp converted into postage stamp
was auctioned for as high as 2.42 million yuan (USD 302,500 including
commission), setting an all time high in the world's auctions of this
stamp. As the most valuable stamp in China, this one-yuan red revenue
stamp converted into postage stamp has been reputed to crown all the
Chinese stamps for a long time and also famous in global stamp arena.
This stamp was discovered in a world precious stamp collection by a
European stamp collector in the 1980s and then preserved by a stamp
collector in Taiwan.
