CNPC reported record profits in 2004

Chinanews, Jan. 16 - China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) reported
550 billion yuan in sales revenue in 2004, with over 110 billion yuan of
profits and 105 billion yuan of taxes, all record levels. CNPC's revenues
accounted for 10 percent of all revenues of enterprises owned by the
central government, while CNPC's profits were as much as 25 percent of
all profits reported by the same government-owned enterprises.
According to an official release, CNPC discovered in 2004 six new
districts, each with at least one hundred million tons of petroleum
reserves.
