The Summer of Aviya (阿维娅的夏天) Sep 24, 6:30pm
The opening movie is about a 10-year-old Israeli girl's homecoming from a
boarding school. Aviya's mother has a hard time dealing with the loss of
her husband, who died in the war. She and Aviya drift from place to
place, and despite their struggles, they never lose hope.
Under the Domim Tree (苹果树下)

Based on the autobiographical book by Gila Almagor, this movie is set in
a boarding school for teenagers orphaned by the Holocaust. Some of them
had survived concentration camps while others had been in hiding for
years. Not knowing whether their families are alive or dead, they have to
struggle to lead "normal" lives.
Sallah Shabati (萨利赫)

A Jewish man from Asia immigrates to a 1948 Israeli settlement camp with
his family. Sallah Shabati tries many means to make money and get
housing, and in doing so, he gets entangled with slick politicians,
government bureaucracy, his neighbors and his daughter.

who is dying from AIDS. Desperate, the mother goes out to find marijuana
to ease her son's pain. But her journey on the streets of Tel Aviv also
brings her face-to-face with a sensitive past she has long been trying to

This is a sweet movie about a family's Passover dinner. For two days,
friends and relatives are crammed together under a single roof for this
celebration banquet, from which they are trying to find their role in the
family and deal with their own troubles.
The House on Shlush Street (切罗基大街的房子)

This story centers around a European immigrant family in Israel during
the period of British Occupation in 1946. It was nominated for an Academy
Award as Best Foreign Film in 1973.
Sh' Chur (魔咒)

This movie portrays the colorful and passionate culture of the Moroccan
community in Israel. It tells the story of 13-year-old Rachel, a
thoroughly Westernized Sabra teenager who struggles to make sense of and
come to terms with the white magic (Sh'Chur) practiced regularly by
members of her family. This mystical world of spirits and demons takes on
a physical presence in the shape of her elder sister Pnina, whose
supernatural powers fill Rachel with fear.
Three Mothers (三位母亲)

Rose, Flora and Yasmin were born as triplets 60 years ago in Alexandria,
Egypt with the blessing of King Farouk of Egypt. They grow up and witness
many historical events. After 50 years, the three sisters come to "This
is Your Life" - a place where people recount the past in order to tell
their story with Rose's only daughter and their interlaced relationship.
At the end of the journey into the past, once they redeem themselves, the
sisters come back to the city of Alexandria, and witness the death of the
first of the triplets.
