China strives to restructure basic farmland

The Ministry of Land and Resources disclosed recently that the country
was planning to reinforce its efforts to restructure basic farmland in
the future. Based on the distribution data of China's basic farmlands and
financial status, the Ministry would assign annual restructuring tasks to
all provinces, autonomous regions and cities. Local departments of land
and resources have the responsibility to apply for national funding in
restructuring programs and implement these programs, ensuring that the
growth of new farmland under the programs will not be less than 3%.
